FIJI FAQ

Fiji Surf Charter – FAQ

How do I get to the yacht?
Arrive in Fiji at your own pace. A private driver will meet you at Nadi International Airport and transfer you to First Landing Resort for your first night. Here, you’ll meet your fellow travellers and your host, Stephanie. Over a relaxed dinner, we’ll provide a trip briefing. After an early breakfast the next morning, we board the yacht at 8:00 AM and set sail.

Do I need to be an experienced surfer to join the charter?
While we don’t offer surf lessons, this trip is ideal for independent surfers who are confident in the water, respect surf etiquette, and can safely navigate the lineup. There are waves to suit all levels.
Not a surfer? No problem. Partners and non-surfers are welcome. Relax with a book on the rooftop lounge, enjoy paddleboarding, snorkelling, or a sunset coconut—this is your holiday, your way.

What’s included in the charter price?
Your all-inclusive charter covers:
– All meals, prepared daily by your private chef
– Beer, wine, and tastings of local Fijian spirits
– Airport arrival transfer to First Landing Resort
– Group departure transfer
– Snorkelling and paddleboard use
Note: Surf and wind sport gear is not included but can be pre-arranged on request.

What is the accommodation like onboard?
1 x Stateroom Cabin – Small double, ideal for couples
Triple & Quad Cabins – For solo travellers or groups of friends
Each cabin includes its own private bathroom. Rooms are compact, comfortable, and designed to make the most of your time on the water.

What kind of food can I expect onboard?
Fresh, colourful, nourishing, and locally inspired. Meals feature freshly caught fish, colourful salads, and Western-style dishes with a Fijian twist.
Enjoy a beach BBQ (weather permitting), sample traditional dishes in local villages, or opt to dine at a nearby resort (not included) for a change of scene.

Can I dine at nearby resorts during the trip?
Yes! When anchored near a resort, the crew can help arrange restaurant bookings. Resort dining is not included, but you’re welcome to mix up your experience with a night ashore.

What should I pack for the trip?
Essentials:
– Reef-safe sunscreen (zinc-based preferred)
– Rash vest or surf shirt
– Personal first aid kit including antiseptic cream & antibiotics (ask your doctor before travel)

Provided onboard: Shampoo, body wash, towels, meals, drinks, and laundry.
Optional contributions:
– Bras for Fiji (grassroots donation project)
– Unwanted surfboards or surf tees (especially kids’ sizes) for local groms

Or just unwind in a hammock with a book.

How many people are on board?
We average 8–11 guests, with 1 host and 4 crew onboard. The yacht is barefoot, relaxed, and spacious—plenty of room to socialise or find solitude.
Evenings are casual and communal, with sunset drinks, shared meals, and one themed dinner or bonfire night (we’ll let you know the theme before departure).

Do I Need Travel Insurance?
Yes — we strongly recommend comprehensive Travel Insurance & International Medical Insurance for all guests.
To protect your booking and your peace of mind, we encourage all guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurancethat includes:
Trip cancellation or change of mind
Travel delays or missed flights
Emergency medical care and evacuation
Baggage loss, damage, or delays
24/7 global emergency assistance

Travel Insurance is your safety net if anything stops you from travelling — whether it’s illness or injury (before or during your trip), family emergencies, work commitments, or even a last-minute change of plans. It ensures you don’t bear the financial loss if life gets in the way of your trip.
We also recommend International Medical Insurance, especially for overseas guests. These policies cover medical expenses not included in domestic health plans, including emergency treatment, evacuation, repatriation, and unexpected return flights home.

Please note: Fiji Surf Charter does not sell or manage insurance policies. It is your responsibility to secure adequate coverage.
If your trip is cancelled or interrupted for any reason, we’ll provide a statement of loss upon request to assist with your insurance claim. This will reflect the total amount paid toward your reservation.

– Water: ~27°C (80°F)
– Dry season: May–October (ideal for swell)
– Wet season: November–April (hotter, humid, with tropical showers)

Do I need to bring cash?
Yes, we recommend withdrawing around $150 FJD (~$100 AUD / $65 USD) at the airport for:
– Snacks
– Souvenirs
– Small local purchases
Leftover cash can be donated to our school fund at the end of the trip.

Are tips included?
Yes, crew tips are already included.
Tipping is optional and at your discretion if you’d like to show additional appreciation.

Can I come solo?
Absolutely—most guests travel solo.
We offer twin, triple, or quad-share cabins, and you’ll be matched with the most suitable bunkmate based on age, vibe, and preferences. Many solo travellers leave with lifelong friendships.
